Around The World

What if the entire person, church, business, group or family took on a world project? What if we leveraged our resources to make a difference around the world. Below is a list of several ways you can make a difference around the world. Pick one, and jump in. Start helping and start serving.

Toms Shoes. Buy one pair of shoes and Tom will give one to a child in need. Toms will be dropping 50,000 shoes in South Africa soon.

Sponsor a child through Compassion International. A few dollars a month can provide food, clothing, medicine and education to a child. You can even write to your child. This is a great project for families.

Letters to Soldiers. Partner with Xerox to send a free printed postcard to US military personnel stationed overseas.

Kiva lets you loan money to a specific entropreneur in a developing country, empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty. Read their business plans, loan the money, stay in touch, and when the loan has been repaid…do it all again.

What do we need to add to this site?  Let us know.

Several young men in nearby Georgia counties have formed an organization called “Dry Tears” to raise awareness and money to build wells in Africa. Please see http:///www.drytears.org for more info on how you can help.

From the drytears blog… “Water is something that everyone of us takes for granted each and every day. One thing we don’t realize though is how blessed we are to have it and that not everybody has this luxury of clean water like we do. Many people have no possible way to access clean water and they go weeks without a drink. Some kids in Africa are so dehydrated that when they cry, nothing comes out. They cry Dry Tears. What we are trying to do is raise enough money to buy wells in African communities to provide water. We have now purchased four wells and and an irregation system. Hopefully this will keep growing and we will be able to provide for more. Each bracelet is $2, t-shirts are $15 and water bottles are $10 and all profits will go directly towards funding a well in Africa.”
